The College Football Playoffs are in full swing, and we’ve already find out what two schools will take the field for the National Championship.
After taking care of business on New Year’s Eve, the Clemson Tigers and the Alabama Crimson Tide punched their tickets to Tampa, FL for a rematch of the 2016 championship game.
But how exactly did they get there?
First up was #1 Alabama against #4 Washington. The Huskies were the darlings of the 2016 College Football season, and were going up against the old guard of the Crimson Tide.
The Huskies took an early 7-0 lead on the defending champions, but Alabama’s vaunted defense took control thereafter. An interception returned for a touchdown by Ryan Anderson put Alabama up 17-7 at halftime before ultimately winning 24-7.
How close did Washington come to pulling off the upset against Alabama that they couldn’t do on the actual field? Check out the game for yourself.
Up next it was #2 Clemson against #3 Ohio State.
Many felt that Ohio State didn’t belong after not winning its conference championship, but that’s a debate for another time. On the field, the Buckeyes were simply outmatched by Clemson, accumulating just 215 yards on offense while allowing the Tigers to rack up 470 yards.
The real game may have turned out to be a laugher in the form of a 31-0 shellacking by the Tigers, but how did it compare to our simulation? Take a look.
With the semi-final matchups in the rear-view mirror, it’s time to look ahead to the National Championship Game. Will Clemson get exact revenge on the Tide for last year’s game, or will Alabama continue their run of dominance with its fifth championship in eight seasons?
