Tonight (May 19) at 7pm ET, SGO will host a charity event to support those impacted by the Buffalo shooting.
On May 14 at a Tops Friendly Market in Buffalo, NY, a white supremacist committed a terrorist attack on a predominantly black neighborhood.
Ten innocent people lost their lives and three others wounded. Many families will never be the same, and now members of a tight-knit community have lost their only nearby grocery store for the foreseeable future.
Buffalo, NY is my city. I grew up in the city. I spent time in the neighborhood where this shooting occurred. Some of my best memories growing up come from just steps away at the now Johnnie B Wiley Pavilion.
Words can only do so much. It’s time to take action because hateful actions like what took place on Saturday have no place in our society.
