First off, I want to thank everyone who has supported SGO from our start back in 2014. We’ve grown to be one of the top sports gaming outlets in the world, and it’s all because of you.
Now, I know we’ve been quiet on Patreon, but that’s been for good reason. We have been taking a deep look at things, and realized a lot needed to change.
We had been promising too me for such a small team, and began to get a bit overwhelmed.
Full Disclosure: I (Mike Straw) have been the sole manager of the Patreon since its launch, and I have a problem with over commitment.
So, what did that all lead too? Me not giving everyone what they deserved for support us. For that, I apologize. But, that’s not going to stop us moving forward.
We’ve overhauled our tiers here at SGO Insider, and have given more incentive to sign up even at the lowest $1 tier.
We also got a lot of feedback on putting news behind the paywall of Patreon. And while I personally believe that is the future of the industry eventually, I understand the point of content from all of you. That’s why, moving forward, I will not be posting news that permanently stays locked behind the SGO Insider paywall. Instead, all news items will be, at most, posted in an EARLY ACCESS state, allowing Insiders to have a chance to read it first before it goes public on the main SGO website. With this method, it allows us to give those who support us financially an extra perk while not alienating the thousands of daily readers on SportsGamersOnline.com.
As far as Insider-specific perks, a lot will remain the same: SGO Insider-exclusive Discord channels, SGO stickers, custom merch like ticket stubs and mugs, and more. We’ll also be giving you exclusive tips with our SGO Money Plays series that will help you become the best sports gamer possible.
And that’s not all. As we grow, we want tier suggestions for the community so we can make this a place people truly want to be and help support!
I wanted to put this out there to explain the relaunch of Insider and show my gratitude to everyone who has either been an Insider or continues to be. No matter how much you’ve given monetarily or for how long, you all mean the world to us at SGO.
