As announced via Twitter, AEW showcased some new details regarding their anticipated game. Evil Uno, John Silver, Alex Reynolds, and Adam Cole all sat down via Twitch to cover the new information.
AEW Fight Forever, roster additions and more
In addition to confirming a PC launch alongside consoles, Evil also confirmed the official name for the game: AEW Fight Forever. The new footage of the game shown highlighted two roster inclusion: Nyla Rose, and Kris Stratlander. However, fans may have noticed the video showcased the old version of Stratlander and not her latest TV gimmick. It would seem AEW Fight Forever will not be exempt from the same “out-of-date” issue the WWE 2K series runs into annually. Although, this could just be an early build with her newer version to be added later. Both reveal note the gameplay shown is not a final product.
The pacing and impact of gameplay seem a bit faster than that of Darby Allin vs Jungle Boy. It’ll be interesting to see if the game accommodates various match paces best on character stats. We know from past showcases, the aim is for each superstar to feel unique. The revealed roster so far includes:
- Kenny Omega
- “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry
- Hikaru Shida
- and Chris Jericho
Too early to celebrate
While many anticipate the launch of AEW Fight Forever, it appears its success will not have come without headaches. The game has been in development for almost two years; it has an expected release date of fall 2022. While many fans hope it will compete with the WWE 2K series, this may not be the case so soon. SGO has learned there has discourse between the teams from AEW Games and newly rebranded Yuke’s. Though not unheard during a dev cycle for a video game, especially for a brand-new title with a new partnership, it has been said the discourse between them has been far from positive.
