Sony San Diego Studio (SDS) released details on new and improved gameplay for MLB The Show 19, which drops for Playstation 4 on March 26. Each Monday leading up to the game’s release, SDS will partner with Gamestop to bring fans information on new features in this year’s game. Today’s video was an in-depth look at the brand new ‘Moments’ game mode. Here’s a full breakdown of the news from today’s Gamestop Monday video, which you can watch below.

MLB The Show 19 Moments Mode

Moments is a brand new mode in MLB The Show 19. Similar to solo challenges in Madden Ultimate Team, moments are challenges that are played offline but can offer huge online rewards. Moments will earn you stubs, player items, customization items and much more. These challenges can be as short as a single at-bat or as long as a full playoff series. Thankfully, there’s no need to write down or worry about your progress during each challenge, as progress is updated live with notifications.

Moments will be updated throughout the year, both from the past and the 2019 season. Completing moments will directly correlate to progression in Diamond Dynasty, and may help replace previous years’ system. Previous installments of MLB The Show required players to complete long, tedious and boring missions against the computer on rookie difficulty. While that idea was better than charging money, the amount of time required was simply exorbitant. With the new Moments mode, SDS hopes to improve offline challenges exponentially.

MLB The Show 19 News Schedule

In addition to today’s video, SDS has released an upcoming broadcast schedule for all future MLB The Show 19 news. The next news day is Thursday, when the SDS Twitch stream will take a look at another new mode called “March to October.” Below is the full schedule.

You can watch Sony San Diego’s Twitch broadcasts, including past streams, here.

What do you think of the addition of Moments in MLB The Show 19? Do you think this system will be better than previous years’ programs and missions? Let us know in the comment section below and don’t forget to subscribe to SGO.
