September is here and that means back to school for millions of kids and young adults. MLB The Show 22 is headed back to (old) school, as well. Following update 14, the new Featured Program goes old school with new bosses, a new event, and much more.

MLB The Show 22 Goes Old School

Back to Old School Featured Program

The new Featured Program focuses on legends from both recent and distant years. Players will be able to earn two new bosses while working their way through the program. At 175,000 XP, players will earn 99 OVR Prime Eric Davis.

At 200,000 XP, players will earn a choice pack where they can pick from one of three new 99 OVR bosses:

  • Takashi Okazaki CP Billy Wagner
  • Awards 3B Chipper Jones
  • Prime 1B Lou Gehrig

Back to Old School Event

We’re getting a new event alongside the new Featured Program, as well. This event has players again playing 3-inning games on All-Star difficulty with very few lineup restrictions. 15 wins in the event will earn players 99 OVR Retro Finest CF Lorenzo Cain, while 20 wins earns them 99 OVR Retro Finest SS Elvis Andrus.

Roster Update

The latest roster attribute update has made several changes to the live series editions of players in MLB The Show 22.  Four players made the leap up to Diamond this week:

  • Braves SP Spencer Strider
  • Mariners SP Luis Castillo
  • Brewers RF Hunter Renfroe
  • Braves CF Michael Harris

Other notable changes include Josh Hade and Rafael Devers both losing Diamond status with major downgrades this week. Meanwhile, Aaron Judge continues to improve, now up to a 98 OVR, the highest any Live Series player has reached this year.

New Packs

This week, San Diego Studios added several new packs to The Show Shop. First, we get the next Chase Pack set. The new card in these packs is 99 OVR Prime SS Ernie Banks. Players will earn one Chase Pack for every The Show 50-Pack Bundle, and each single The Show Pack has a chance to reward a Chase Pack.

The newest Headliner is now in The Show Shop. The 42nd Headliner is 99 OVR Future Stars C Francisco Alvarez. With 116 Power both ways, this immediately contends for being one of the best catchers in the game.

Finally, there is a free Scouting Report Pack in The Show Shop. This pack lets players choose 1 Diamond player item, and 1 of the 10 previous 97+ OVR Headliners.
