The Kaiju Arrive in MLB The Show 23 Season 2
Season 2 XP Reward Path
With the start of a new season comes a new XP reward path. Players will be able to gain progress towards this path anytime they play any game mode in MLB The Show 23. The reward path will be available until Season 2 ends on July 7. This reward path features tons of rewards for players, as well as the XP loop at the end where you can earn unlimited XP rewards. There is also a new boss pack, including cards from the two new programs that were introduced to the game. The 99 OVR bosses for Season 2 are:
- Incognito 3B Josh Donaldson
- Kaiju 2B Chase Utley
- Incognito SP Greg Maddux
- Kaiju CF Grady Sizemore
- Incognito CP Mariano Rivera
Kaiju Series Program
The Kaiju Series is a new series of cards in MLB The Show 23. While there are a few places to find them in the game, the best way to get these new cards is through the Kaiju Series Program. The program features 12 of the new Kaiju Series cards:
- Mike Yastrzemski, CF San Francisco Giants (90 OVR)
- Jerry Hairston Jr., SS Cincinnati Reds (90 OVR)
- Zack Britton, CP Baltimore Orioles (91 OVR)
- Keith Hernandez, 1B New York Mets (92 OVR)
- David Robertson, RP New York Yankees (92 OVR)
- Warren Spahn, SP Atlanta Braves (94 OVR)
- Harold Baines, RF Chicago White Sox (94 OVR)
- Joe Torre, 3B St. Louis Cardinals (95 OVR)

To earn these cards, players can complete moments, missions, a showdown and conquest map, and rack up wins in the new Kaiju Event.
Kaiju: Part 1 Event
There is a new event to go along with the Kaiju Series Program. This program has players use Kaiju, Incognito, Future Stars, and Live Series cards in 3-inning games on All-Star difficulty. Each win in this event will earn you points towards the Kaiju Series Program. 10 wins in the event will also earn you 95 OVR Kaiju SP Lefty Grove. 20 wins in the event will reward 97 OVR SP Mike Mussina.
Team Affinity 2 – Incognito Series
Team Affinity 2 has arrived in MLB The Show 23. If you still haven’t finished Team Affinity 1, don’t worry. Team Affinity 1 is still there and can be completed at any time.
Team Affinity 2 features 90 new Diamond cards that you can earn for free by playing Diamond Dynasty. There are three cards for each MLB team. The cards are divided amongst the Future Stars, Incognito, and Kaiju Series.
Like Team Affinity 1, Team Affinity 2 will be a long grind to get through. Players will be able to complete moments, missions, exchanges, a showdown and conquest for each division. Earning 150,000 points in a division’s program will earn you all the rewards there are for that division.
Ranked Seasons 2
Ranked Seasons 2 is here for all the competitive online players to grind towards. You can play solo or co-op to works towards the World Series pack in the program as well as the 900 rating to earn the pack the old fashioned way. The rewards in the World Series pack are:
- 99 OVR Incognito 2B Ian Kinsler
- 99 OVR Incognito SP Nolan Ryan
- 99 OVR Incognito RF Stan Musial
There was a big change made in Ranked Seasons. The World Series pack that players can earn through the Ranked Seasons program is now a No Sell pack. This means if you earn the pack through earning program points, you will not be able to sell the card for stubs on the marketplace. However, if you earn the pack the old fashioned way by reaching the World Series rating in Ranked Seasons, you will still be able to sell the cards in the pack on the marketplace.
This has been a point of debate within the MLB The Show community. Some players say this is a good move because it will increase the cost of these cards on the marketplace. This will make the reward for reaching a World Series rating more rewarding for top-tier players. However, others feel this prices casual or offline players out of the best cards in the game. These players also see this as a slippery slope towards making more grindable rewards No Sell, thus making it harder for players to earn stubs without spending extra money on the game.
May Topps Now Week 1
The first set of Topps Now cards have arrived in the May Topps Now program. There are 11 Diamonds to earn by completing the moments and missions in the program. These 11 new cards are:
- Jose Trevino, C New York Yankees (90 OVR)
- Miguel Amaya, C Chicago Cubs (90 OVR)
- Matt Mervis, 1B Chicago Cubs (90 OVR)
- Riley Greene, CF Detroit Tigers (91 OVR)
- Brett Sullivan, C San Diego Padres (92 OVR)
- J.P. France, SP Houston Astros (92 OVR)
- Alex Call, LF Washington Nationals (92 OVR)
- Kevin Pillar, LF Atlanta Braves (93 OVR)
- Eric Haase, DH Detroit Tigers (94 OVR)
- Ryan Mountcastle, 1B Baltimore Orioles (95 OVR)
- Eduardo Rodriguez, SP Detroit Tigers (95 OVR)
Roster Update
The second roster attribute update went into effect today. There are six new Diamond rated players:

- Matt Chapman (85 OVR, +1)
- Joe Ryan (85 OVR, +2)
- Alexis Diaz (85 OVR, +2)
- Adolis Garcia (87 OVR, +4)
This was a big update, as we saw two players jump up 4 overall points to reach Diamond, which is pretty rare. Other keys movements include Cardinals 3B Nolan Arenado who dropped down 4 points to an 86 OVR. Diamondbacks SP Zac Gallen moved up 3 points to an 88 OVR. Finally, recently returned Padres RF Fernando Tatis Jr. jumped up 2 points to a 91 OVR.
Offline Mode Updates
There have been a couple additions to our favorite offline modes in Diamond Dynasty. First, a new conquest map has been added. This map features the Texas Rangers new Nike City Connect Jerseys. This map is very similar to the previous jersey conquest maps. Completing the map will earn you a bat skin, icon, banner, and the jersey itself.
There are also two new Mini Seasons to play. First, there is the new Team Affinity Season 2 Mini Season. This has you use Live Series, Captains, Future Stars, and Incognito Series players. The other new Mini Season is called All Gold Everything. This one has you use only gold and common cards on your team. Completing this Mini Season will earn you two Gold Overall Captains. These captains are 92 OVR SP Kevin Gausman and 92 OVR 1B Paul Goldschmidt. These captains will be usable in this Mini Season on extra playthroughs.
