Basketball is headed to Spocco Square in a free update for Nintendo Switch Sports. This is the first update to Nintendo’s sports title since golf was added in late 2023.
Basketball comes to Nintendo Switch Sports
Basketball will be available on Nintendo Switch Sports on [July 9] in Europe and [July 10] in the US. The new sport will feature exciting two-on-two matches, a thrilling three-point shootout, and intense five-streak battles. These new features will surely bring a fresh and exciting experience to the game.
Last year, Nintendo added its first post-launch sport, golf, as a free update. Since then, news on other additional sports has been pretty scarce. Hopefully, 2024 will be a big year for Nintendo’s sports title, and the company will add more fan-favorite sports from the Wii Sports series. I want to see baseball added, but there is no word yet.
Review
Nintendo Switch Sports was released in May 2022. You can check out our extensive SGO review of the game here. One of the main drawbacks of Nintendo’s party game was the need for more sports at launch. You would think that since the game is a spiritual successor to the popular Wii Sports series, Nintendo would have a wider variety of sports at launch. However, that wasn’t the case.
“Besides the absence of baseball and boxing, the six sports on show here are smooth, responsive, and fun. While Nintendo Switch Sports could do more for the players who play solo, the game is at its best when you play locally with friends.”
Nintendo Switch Sports is out now for Nintendo Switch.
