NBA 2K League: Biggest Star Prospects

NBA 2K League Star Prospects

A few years ago, I started getting into watching Overwatch, Hearthstone, Dota 2, Counter Strike and League of Legends. My mind was blown away by how large and diverse the audience was. The League of Legend World Championship had over 43 million people watching last year which is beyond impressive. In a couple of years, I believe the NBA 2K League has the potential to have those type of numbers in streams and television

After Watching countless hours of film on Pro Am players showing the strengths and weakness of top Pro am teams and creating scouting report on underrated players I wanted to to highlight some of the top 2K League prospects that already have a large fan bases. With February just around the corner and the second round of NBA 2K League tryouts almost here Sports Gamers Online gives you a look some of the top prospects looking to snag of one of the coveted 85 spots.

Let’s get started with one of the top available guards in the game.

SlayIsland

Slay is one of the top guards in the 2K Pro-Am community. Recently, he partnered with eRa Studios and Twitch, having over 7,000 followers and 72,000 views. Slay’s stream is almost always full of adventures, debates and entertainment. Whether it’s cracking jokes with his teammates BearDaBeast, NateIsland, iiTzChas and PlanetRondo, or accidentally doing something crazy like deleting his #1 ranked team from the leaderboards.

He even went viral when his brother, who also is a hardcore gamer, raged on him in a middle of a game. When streaming at two in the morning on a weekday, he still manages 200+ viewers. In my opinion, if drafted, he has potential to bring in a lot of endorsements. Not only due to skills, but because of his on-screen persona as well.

If you were to get drafted in the 2K League what kind of sponsorships could you see yourself having?

SlayIsland: “Adidas, Arizona Ice Tea and Chic-Fil-A are my top 3”

Most memorable stream: “Most people would probably say my most memorable stream was when my brother attacked me, but to me my most memorable stream was the first time we played space Jam this year. It was the number one team vs the number two team on the leaderboards and it was the first huge computer game of the year. I had 800 viewers in my stream and I played one of the best games of my life. We ended up losing by two, but it was an amazing game.”

iDevGoss

If you don’t follow iDevGoss, you’re missing out. iDevGoss is one of the funniest, and most entertaining players in the Pro-Am community. He brings intense energy not only on the court, but in his stream as well. He’s a bit cocky, charismatic, entertaining and most importantly, a team leader.

The star point guard for Throwdown has over 6,000 Twitch followers and 22,000 views. That is pretty good for someone who doesn’t stream consistently. However, when he does, he usually has 400+ viewers. iDevGoss was one of the first US pro-am players to have over 1,000 viewers in his stream on 2K18. This feat quickly caught the attention of the 2K community.

If you were to get drafted in the 2K League what kind of sponsorships could you see yourself having?

Dev: “Chipotle would be my personal favorite, because I eat there about four days a week. It’s to a point where my mom now refuses to eat at Chipotle. Scuff would be awesome as well because I love playing Call of Duty when [I’m] not grinding 2K. So, it gives me the best advantage. Plus, they have some sick controller designs.”

Most memorable stream: “My most memorable stream I have had in my streaming career was probably Throwdown v. Breakout. Even though we fell short, it was such a fun stream leading up to the game. I remember before the stream, I grabbed a dime laying around my house and threw a dime outside. I was implying that we were going to lock up DatBoyDimez and bring home this win for the MPBA Tip-Off! After the game, Dimez definitely got me back by uploading his own video of grabbing a dime and saying, “I think you lost this Dev.” So, that was by far the best stream I have had so far this year!”

Gooner

The starting point guard and owner of the #1 ranked EU Pro-Am team is the overseas version of Dimez when it comes to skills and leadership. Gooner is even a household name in the Pro-Am community here in the US which is a pretty cool thing in my opinion.

The star point guard is also partnered with Twitch having over 24,000 followers and 68,000 views. If Gooner is drafted I think he could not only inspire the overseas players but also bring the international viewers with him.

If you were to get drafted in the 2K League what kind of sponsorship could you see yourself having?

Gooner: “I’d be grateful to have any sponsors or endorsements.”

Most memorable stream: “This year against HP when I went 19/19, but wasn’t my stream, definitely a memorable stream though!”

Vandy

By watching Vandy’s stream you can’t tell that he’s only been playing Pro-Am for a few months. In my opinion he has progressed tremendously as a player and leader for his team but what I really like about Vandy is how clean and professional he keeps his streams he even tells his teammates and guests in his Xbox party not to swear during them. The star point guard for Team Chaos has 8,500 followers Twitch followers with 24,000 views.

If you were to get drafted in the 2K League what kind of sponsorship could you see yourself having?

Vandy: “Hmmm, really anybody that would like to sponsor me would be a blessing. Gfuel would be cool, hyper x, dxracer. Those are some pretty awesome sponsors but really anybody that would commit to me would be awesome.”

Most memorable stream: “Most memorable stream was probably our MPBA game vs Space Jam. We were underdogs and we 2-0 one of the best teams, and we gained more support following that series. Another one was back in 2k15 I remember streaming and pulling 0 to maybe 3 viewers. I remember that I felt like people didn’t like to watch me. But as that year went on I gained more viewership and more followers and gained more recognition in the community because of how much I grinded to where I am now. Now pulling 100+ viewers each pro-am stream. It’s amazing to see how much support I’ve gotten in the pro-am community, especially with my team and I coming from the park scene to a top team in pro-am.”

Dimez

Dimez is obviously the face of the NBA2K League right now being featured in articles like Jumpman23, Forbes, UltLosAngeles and many more. I think Dimez will be one of the popular 2K League players if he’s drafted. A lot of people talk about his elite skills on the court, but some people don’t realize how well he speaks in front of cameras. When I stop to watch Dimez streams he’s always answering questions and conversing with his viewers which can mean a lot to the younger audience who’s inspired to be like him. He even makes his viewers feel like they’re apart of the team when he’s in a big comp game and the score is close by yelling “C’mon Twitch chat get me hype!”.

Dimez is another top 2K League prospect that’s verified with Twitch having 10,000 followers and 52,000 viewers.

If you were to get drafted in the 2K League what kind of sponsorships could you see yourself having?

Dimez: “I can’t answer that sponsorship question bro, I don’t want to say any specific names. I want them all.”

Most memorable stream: “Hard to say bro. There’s alot of memorable times. Here’s a few. 1st time I ever streamed I gained over 1,000 followers in that 1 stream alone. The 1st time I ever hit 1k + viewers was a dope stream & my 1st stream as partnered was dope as well. It was right after we won MPBA. So that’s a few I remember right now. Only the beginning bro!”

TifeWorld

I’ve recently started watching TifeWorld stream’s and every time I join in to watch his Pro-Am comp games he has over 300 to 400 viewers. One night around 3am EST I saw him with over 700+ active viewers in his stream which is super impressive in my opinion especially without promoting his stream. I like how entertaining TifeWorld is some people might take his outburst and raging during games the wrong way but in my opinion, I think it gets his teammates and viewers motivated. TifeWorld is a verified Twitch Partner with 99,800 followers and 368,168 viewers.

If you were to get drafted in the 2K League what kind of sponsorships could you see yourself having?

Tife: “I would say Jordan.”

Most memorable stream: “When we lost to Throwdown in the MPBA tournament.”

Worthingcolt

Worthingcolt is one of the top centers in the NBA2K Pro-Am community and one of the most entertaining. I can go into Colts stream on any day for laughs and most importantly great comp matchups he even plays game modes like TeamUp with some of the top prospects on PS4 which his fans and views seem to really like.

Colt had over 1,000+ viewers when he played against the #1 ranked Pro-Am “Team Breakout” which was an exciting series between the two teams. Worthingcolt is partnered with eRa Studios and Twitch as well having over 37k followers and 125k viewers.

If you were to get drafted in the 2K League what kind of sponsorships could you see yourself having?

Worthingcolt: “I’d be honored just knowing I had offers lol. But I’d say like Gatorade or Jordan/Nike, any kind of sporting good, or maybe even like an insurance commercial like State Farm?”

Most memorable stream: “Has to be when I first received my sub button. I was nervous about who’d subscribe/how many would actually subscribe to me. I ended up getting over 50 subs that day & it meant a lot to me because then I saw how much I was loved in the community.”

HankDaTank

He’s another player in my opinion that has tremendously improved his Pro-Am skills. HankDaTank started his streaming career playing NBA2K MyPark and made it switch late last year to Pro-Am he’s came a long way to say the least. HankDaTank has over 420K subscribers on YouTube uploading creative NBA2K content which is inspirational. You would think Hank would be cocky or have an Hollywood personality but he’s the complete opposite and one of the most laid back and humble players in the Pro-Am community.

HankDankTank streams are always packed and full of entertainment the last stream he had was a $5000 Pro-Am wager match which he ended up losing over 2,000 but he did put on a great show for the entire Pro-Am community. Hank is also a Verified Twitch Partner with over 52k followers and 203,700 views.

If you were to get drafted in the 2K League what kind of sponsorships could you see yourself having?

HankDaTank: “I would say Gatorade, Gfuel, dx racer, brisk, turtle beach.”

Most memorable stream: “That’s a tough one…I guess when I hit 100k subs.”

KennyGotWork

The NBA2K17 Road To The All Star Weekend champion streams are always filled with top Pro-Am comp matches. If you want to listen to a Pro-Am team that has great communication and team chemistry Kenny should be one of streams on your twitch list. In some of Kenny’s late-night streams you might catch a good joke session while playing PUBG with his teammates Timleycook, All Hail Trey, Reece and Hall of Fame Jay.

If KennyGotWork gets drafted I think he will be a tremendous leader for any group of guys he is put with. Kenny is a Verified Twitch Partner with over 5,000 followers and 30,000 views.

If you were to get drafted in the 2K League what kind of sponsorships could you see yourself having?

KennyGotWork: “If I was to get drafted, I would want to be endorsed by Gatorade & AT&T.”

Most memorable stream: “I’ve had a few but I can’t forget when we were down 13 points under 2 minutes. We came back and got the W! That stream was lit!”

French Prince JT

Fresh Prince JT also known as Space Jam JT was probably the first Pro-Am player twitch I consistently watched. When JT streams a Pro-Am comp game and he’s fully locked in it’s a pretty crazy thing to witness it’s also hilarious when he’s yelling “GREEN BEAN!” or “That’s a JT shot!” when he takes a contested crazy shot and makes it. LetsGet It Ramo another top prospect and JT’s right hand man also keeps the stream entertaining by making jokes about JT when he does something outrages and questionable on the court.

Fresh Prince JT has 4,464 followers on Twitch with over 33,000 views.

If you were to get drafted in the 2K League what kind of sponsorships could you see yourself having?

Fresh Prince JT: “I would love Nike or Jordan.”

Most memorable stream: “I think either that stream vs AAO or the stream when we beat slight work both times. It seems like the entire community was there for both and Twitter was really going crazy about me.Always Open in our last MPBA game for PS4. I hit 800 viewers in Game 7 at 3 AM. We played the whole series that night. It was a really crazy back and forth. I switched players like three times.”

Gawd Choc

Gawd Choc recently started streaming consistently but when he goes live on Twitch people pour in to watch him play Pro-Am comp games. One of the reasons why I like Gawd Choc is because he will load up into his Pro-Am court and play with anybody who messages him first which is a pretty cool thing to do especially when you have a team that’s ranked high on the leaderboards. It’s exciting to see Choc compete with a random group guys on his team when he faces other ranked Pro-Am teams you have to give him a lot of credit for that.

What really increases his views is when he starts to rage I have to admit if someone messages me saying Gawd Choc is raging on Twitch during a Pro-Am game I will stop what I’m doing just to watch cause it’s funny and entertaining. Recently I stopped by and watched one of his streams and saw that his mom was watching in the stream and cheering him on which in my opinion is the greatest thing I’ve seen since DevGoss mom was cheering her son on.

Gawd Choc has over 1,600 followers on Twitch with 12,000 views.

If you were to get drafted in the 2K League what kind of sponsorships could you see yourself having?

Gawd Choc: “Any endorsements would be a blessing.”

Most memorable stream: “I think either that stream vs AAO or the stream when we beat slight work both times. It seems like the entire community was there for both and Twitter was really going crazy about me.”

Even though each of these guys have fan followings doesn’t guarantee them a spot in 2K league, so good luck to all of the prospects in the second round. Once the NBA 2K League draft is over and the NBA starts to market these players watch how fast they turn into stars. I don’t have a doubt in my mind that in a few years, NBA 2K League viewership will compete with the top tier eSports games. Stay tuned here at SGO for our continued coverage of 2K League.
