USA Basketball announced the seven players and three alternates who will be joining the USA E-National Team for NBA 2K21 this winter. This past weekend, USA Basketball held invite-only trials to qualify for the team. Gamers who received invites were among the NBA 2K League’s best players. Since the NBA 2K League is 2K’s official esports league, this makes sense.

“We had a great weekend at the E-National Team Trials,” begins Washington Mystics SF and WNBA Champion Aerial Powers in a video posted to the official USA Basketball E-National Team twitter account. Powers joins four others on the E-National Team Selection Panel. Together, the five panelists choose seven players who make up the main roster.

Additionally, Aaron “Arooks” Rookwood, Mihad “FEAST” Feratovic, and Brianna “icygrl” Novin were picked for the team as alternates.

The ten person power team will compete in the International Basketball Federation, or FIBA, Esports Open II. The FIBA Esports Open II will feature 38 national teams in seven regional conferences. Therefore, the US team will compete in the North and Central American Conference. There, they will be vying for the top spot against Costa Rica, Canada, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Honduras and Puerto Rico.

Those in the North and Central America Conference will be competing from December 19 to December 20. Fans will be able to watch the matches live on FIBA’s Youtube, Twitch, and Facebook channels. There’s so much more action than just our conference. The first three conferences, Africa, Middle East and Southeast Asia, will be played this weekend, November 14 and 15. Then, the European conference will play on December 12 and 13. Finally, the South America Conference will be held December 19 and 20.
