Madden NFL 25 is just a few short weeks away from its release. While not much is known about the game yet, fans are excited to see what comes next for the series. Today, EA Sports released the first piece of information about the game, starting with the game’s cover athlete.
McCaffrey on the Cover
San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey has been selected as the Madden NFL 25 cover athlete. McCaffrey is coming off a career year, where he led the NFL with 1,459 rushing yards to go with his 14 rushing touchdowns. The former 1st round pick from Stanford also caught 67 passes for 564 yards and 7 touchdowns. Throughout the 2023 season, many believed McCaffrey had a solid chance to become the first non-QB since Adrian Peterson to win NFL MVP. McCaffrey finished 3rd in MVP voting but did end up winning AP Offensive Player of the Year. After the news was announced, McCaffrey posted the following message on X:

The 49ers’ running back was a popular choice by fans to be the next cover athlete. Other popular guesses from fans included Aaron Donald, Myles Garrett, and Joe Burrow. An alleged leaked cover featuring Burrow actually made the rounds on X over the weekend. However, it was quickly debunked as a fake.
As far as the actual game goes, we still don’t know much about Madden NFL 25. The Madden NFL 25 website previously featured a clock counting down to the reveal of the game scheduled for this Thursday. However, that countdown has now been removed. Fans can only wait for now to see when the game will be revealed. The only bit of news announced today was the small description for the game added to online storefronts. The description reads, “In EA SPORTS Madden NFL 25, discover the next level of FieldSENSE™. This includes a re-engineered physics system, updated features across franchise and other modes as well as brand-new commentary and presentation.”
