FIFA 23 is officially the last FIFA game in the near-thirty-year series. The conclusion of FIFA’s (governing body) and Electronic Arts’ partnership sparks a new franchise in EA Sports FC. However, many questions regarding EA’s newest football series have yet to be answered. As of now, we can only go off some rumors circling the game; the latest one is that cross-play will finally make its way to Pro Clubs in EA Sports FC.

Cross-Play is coming Pro Clubs in EA Sports FC
According to the popular FIFA news page, FUTZone. Pro Clubs will feature cross-play in EA Sports FC. This rumor is one of the few we have heard about EA Sports FC. Last year, FUTZone reported that Online Career Modes would be making its way to EA’s new football title, but once again, this is just a rumor. We’ve reached out to the FUTZone Twitter page for more information on this news but have yet to get a response. Ultimately, We will know more concrete news about EA Sports FC later this year.
EA’s Pro Clubs Cross-Play Controversy
FIFA‘s Pro Clubs mode is one of the most neglected features in EA’s long-running football series. Pro Clubs has a massive community that has formed virtual leagues to bring real purpose to the mode. Unfortunately, Electronic Arts have elected to keep the year-to-year changes to a minimum regarding Pro Clubs.
Last year, I interviewed Aaron Baker, the Twitter user who started the popular hashtag #SaveProClubs. Baker shared a lengthy post about his disappointment with the lack of cross-play features coming to Pro Clubs in FIFA 23.
“For now, the aim of the campaign from me is to achieve more communication on a regular basis from the company in regards to the mode, and from that, clear information about why cross-play was not included,” Baker said.
Electronic Arts have responded to the ongoing backlash by stating that cross-play in Pro Clubs is complex due to the number of players on the field at once. This statement might raise some eyebrows, given that Call of Duty‘s Warzone hosts 150 players and utilizes cross-play capabilities in one game session. Whatever the reason the American publisher excludes cross-play features from its team play mode, it’s a highly requested feature amongst the Pro Clubs community.
