EA Sports PGA Tour was released less than a week ago, but the game has already undergone several changes. The title is EA’s first golf release in several years, and the team seems to be determined to improve it as much as possible. In the first week alone, issues with tournament awards, crashing, and compatibility have already been addressed in updates.
EA Sports PGA Tour Updates
Today, EA Sports released a blog post talking about the plans for the future of the title. This includes fixes as well as improvements to modes and gameplay. These plans are based on feedback from players. These can be expected to roll out in the coming weeks.
The first thing mentioned is the 3-click swing. The blog post acknowledges that this feature has been a staple of golf games for decades. The post says that the feature will arrive in the coming weeks. This begs the question, if it is such a staple in the genre, why was it not in the game at release?
Putting
Issues with putting grids will be addressed in future updates. Currently, there are issues where the beads on the putting grid will run the opposite direction they are supposed to. This can completely mess up a player’s shot and have them going in the wrong direction. There are also times when the grid will not fade out after you hit your putt, making it hard to see where the ball is going.
The team is investigating issues with some camera angles in the game. These issues can obscure gameplay and break the immersion of players. Issues with the pre-shot zoom camera for players without the putting grid will also be an area of focus for the team.
Career Mode
The blog post also talks a bit about Career Mode. The post says in pre-release versions, the mode featured 1 round tournament. This was removed to avoid issues with commentary quests, stats, and other bugs. While nothing is certain yet, the post says the team is exploring ways to provide more choice in Career Mode.
Other issues that will be addressed include the ball rolling over the edge of the cup when it should have rolled in and the implementation of a Fast Play presentation option. There are no certain dates for any of the fixes mentioned in this post. Hopefully, EA Sports will be able to get this implemented soon to make the game what fans hoped it would be at release.
