As various sports begin kicking into the next seasons, it’s time to be on the lookout for the upcoming esports season as well. As a fan, placing your bets throughout those seasons is possible, and odds can be a predictor. If you’re not sure what to look out for in terms of seasons, both near and far, we have got you covered.
Notable upcoming esports tournaments and seasons
2022 League Of Legends World Championship Contenders
League of Legends Worlds starts on September 29. It’ll run for about a month, ending on November 5, 2022. The main stages that’ll take place throughout that period are play-ins, group stage, and knockout stage. The knockout stage is composed of quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals.
One of the most popular esports games will be played in four cities across Mexico and the United States this year. Play-ins are scheduled at Liga Latinoamerica Arena, Mexico City, Mexico. The group stage matches will commence at Hulu Theatre in New York City, USA. All quarterfinal matches will also occur here, while the semifinals are set to happen at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. The final match will be played at Chase Center in San Francisco, California. Remember, all this will be happening with a live audience. Canada was supposed to be part of the hosting countries, but COVID-19 made it impossible.
Madden NFL 23 Championship Series
This year, players can expect four MCS events in Madden NFL 23: Ultimate Kickoff, Ultimate Thanksgiving, Ultimate Wild Card, and the Ultimate Madden Bowl. The 2022 season kicks off early this year with Ultimate Kickoff ladder games starting August 20. This is just one day following the Madden 23 global release. Players may compete in the Xbox Series X|S or PlayStation 5 tournaments. However, players are not eligible to compete in both tournaments. There is a total prize pool of $1.7 million between the first 3 MCS events and the $1 million Ultimate Madden Bowl finale.
NBA 2K League 2022
If you’re looking to get in on this one, you may be somewhat rather late as the seasons kicked off some time back in May. However, if you are looking to catch the playoffs, you are in luck.
The playoffs begin August 17 and run for two weeks. The top seven teams holding the best regular-season records and the winner of the final tournament are guaranteed playoff spots. If the tournament winner has one of the league’s top eight records, then the top eight teams will make the playoffs. The quarterfinals are single-elimination play. The semifinals and NBA 2K League Finals will each be best-of-three. The playoff prize pool will be $600,000, with the NBA 2K League champion receiving $300,000 from the pool.
eSports WRC Championship
Again, this is another where fans have to look for better luck next year. The majority of the series has already taken place with the finalist already set in stone. That said, if you’re looking to get in on the last bit of action, you still have time. After touring through places like Monte-Carlo and Greece, the WRC Championship now awaits its final destination which has yet to be announced, as well as its date. Be sure to stay on top of it via the official website.
That covers most of the major tournaments still in play. League of Legends World Championship commences September 29. A live audience will watch this year’s tournament, which will be the first post-pandemic, in-person crowd since the 2020 worlds tournament.
