Valve Corporation created Dota 2, a prominent multiplayer combat arena esports game. It is the continuation of Defense of the Ancients: All-Stars. Dota 2 is typically played in groups of five, with everyone defending their own sector on a map. The winning team is the one that destroys the “Ancient” structure in the opposing team’s base.

2. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO)

Another well-known esports game from Valve is the fourth installment in the Counter-Strike series, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. CS:GO consists of two factions: terrorists and counter-terrorists. Terrorists kidnap people and deploy a bomb. Counter-terrorists must save the captives while also defusing the explosives.

3. Fortnite

Epic Games launched one of the most popular online multiplayer games, Fortnite. With three central game modes, players can:

  • Save the World: This game requires up to four players to safeguard themselves and fellow survivors from zombie-like creatures.
  • Battle Royale: It is a player-versus-player eSport in which up to 100 people compete to be the last one standing. It is also possible to play in groups.
  • Creative: The sandbox mode in which players have absolute creative power over the game universe.

4. League of Legends (LoL)

Riot Games’ League of Legends is a multiplayer real-time strategy action game with extreme popularity throughout Asia and the US. It is played between two teams of three or five players, and the gameplay is identical to that of Dota 2. A team wins by demolishing the “Nexus” structure within the opposing team’s base.

5. StarCraft II

Starcraft II takes place in a science-fiction world with three species: Zerg, Terrans, and Protoss. The most current version of the game consists of three parts: the original game, Wings of Liberty, and two expansion packs. The first section is about Terrans (humans), whereas the other two are about Zerg and Protoss.

6. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG)

UBG Corporation created this battle royale-style game. Up to 100 people compete in this game to see who can be the last one to survive. It can also be played in groups.

7. Hearthstone

Blizzard’s free digital card game, Hearthstone, features a turn-based experience played one-on-one between two players. Each player is dealt a deck of 30 cards and must choose a hero with a particular skill.

8. Overwatch

Overwatch and Overwatch 2 feature group arena combat with the purpose of securing command posts on a map or transporting a payload from one location to another in a given amount of time.

9. Heroes of the Storm

Heroes of the Storm includes characters and battlegrounds from Blizzard’s other popular online games, such as Warcraft and Overwatch. It is referred to as a “hero brawler” game rather than a “multiplayer battle arena” or an “action real-time tactics” game due to its wider playing style.
