Tony Hawk Remake Hits Steam, Series Could Make a Comeback

Roughly one year after the cancellation of the series, the Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2 Remake will officially be released on Steam. The game will be released on October 3rd for the PC platform, and bring all your favorite skaters, locations, and tracks.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater Steam Release Could Mean a Comeback

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2 Remake was a great reintroduction to the Pro Skater series. Following the first game’s success, fans immediately thought Vicarious Visions would continue remaking the second, third, and even the fourth game in the series. According to Tony Hawk, that was the case.

However, the game’s developer, Vicarious Visions, merged with Blizzard Entertainment earlier last year. The merge saw the demise of the Tony Hawk Pro Skater Remake series, which was even confirmed by Tony Hawk himself on a live stream last year.

Even though Blizzard suddenly canceled the series, the fact it’s coming to Steam in 2023 could mean there’s still life in the series.

Our Review

Sports Gamers Online reviewed the game back in 2022. We loved tearing up remade renditions of our favorite levels and loved the new custom character feature.

Here is what Mike Straw had to say about his time with the remake:

“No matter which way you spin in, this is an excellent remake from top to bottom. The levels look great, the soundtrack is nostalgic yet modern, and the gameplay brings you back to sitting on your living room floor late at night playing with friends.

When it comes to future remakes of any games, developers need to take one look at how this was done and use it as the template on how to handle remakes moving forward.”
