EA Sports UFC 2 Techniques: Takedowns, Submissions and How to Defend!

In this tutorial video of EA Sports for UFC 2,  it breaks down the controls for some techniques in game. It also covers how to get up and break clinch, how to defend submissions, how to perform modified strikes, how to perform submissions, how to perform takedowns, how to posture up, how to defend and counter takedowns, striking defense and how to parry.

Here we have compiled a list of the techniques and combinations in UFC 2 as something for you to reference back to, but would recommend checking out the video to get a better idea of how and when to use them.

Takedown and Clinch Defense

Takedown Defense:

Xbox One: RT + RS down

PS4: R2 + R down

Reverse Takedown:

Xbox One: LT + RS left or right

PS4: L2 + R left or right

Submission from Takedown:

Xbox One: LT + RS down

PS4: L2 + R down

Clinch Defense:

Xbox One: RT + RS up

PS4: R2 + R up

Submission Defense:

Xbox One: RT + RS towards opponent’s direction

PS4: R2 + R towards opponent’s direction

Escaping Submissions:

Xbox One: Hold RS in direction of submission

PS4: Hold R in direction of submission

 

Get Ups and Clinch Breaks

Get Up (Full Guard):

Xbox One: Hold RS on the ground

PS4: Hold R on the ground

Get Up (Other Positions):

Xbox One: LB + Hold RS on the ground

PS4: L1 + Hold R on the ground

Get Up into Clinch:

In Sprawl:

Xbox One: Hold RS up

PS4: Hold R up

Back Against the Cage:

Xbox One: Hold RS down

PS4: Hold R down

Break Clinch:

Xbox One: Hold RS up

PS4: Hold R up

 

Modified Strikes

Punches:

Xbox One: LS left or right + X or Y

PS4: L left or right + Square or Triangle

Modified Punches:

Xbox One: LB + LS left or right + X or Y

PS4: L1 + L left or right + Square or Triangle

Kicks:

Xbox One: LS left or right + A or B

PS4: L left or right + X or O

Modified Kicks:

Xbox One: LB + LS + A or B

PS4: L1 + L + X or O

 

Performing Submissions

Initiate Submission:

Xbox One: LT + Hold RS in a direction

PS4: L2 + Hold R in a direction

Chain Submission:

Xbox One: LS in a direction(Green)

PS4: L in a direction (Green)

Block Submission Escape:

Xbox One: Hold RS in opponent’s direction

PS4: Hold R in opponents direction

Advancing Submissions:

Xbox One: LS in a direction (Blue/red)

PS4: L in a direction (Blue/red)

Submission form the Clinch:

Xbox One: LT + Hold RS in a direction

PS4: L2 + hold RS in a direction

 

Performing Takedowns

Takedown:

Xbox One: LT + Hold RS left or right

PS4: L2 + Hold R left or right

Power Takedown:

Xbox One: LB + LT + Hold RS left or right

PS4: L1 + L2 + Hold R left or right

Takedown (Clinch):

Xbox One: LT + Hold RS in a direction

PS4: L2 + Hold R in a direction

Power Takedown (Clinch):

Xbox One: LB + LT + Hold RS in a direction

PS4: L1 + L2 + Hold R in a direction

 

Posturing Up

Posture Up (Full Guard):

Xbox One: Hold RS Up

PS4: Hold R Up

Stack Guard (Full Guard):

Xbox One: LB + Hold RS Up

PS4: L1 + Hold R Up

Stack Guard (Feet on Hips):

Xbox One: Hold RS down

PS4: Hold R down

Arm Traps:

Xbox One: RS in direction of opponent’s strike (left or right)

PS4: R in direction of opponent’s strike (left or right)

 

Striking Defense

Each parry is timed to the opponent’s attacks

Parry High:

Xbox One: RB + X or Y

PS4: R1 + Square or Triangle

Parry Low:

Xbox One: RT + A or B

PS4: R2 + X or O

Head Movement:

Xbox One: LT + LS in any direction

PS4: L2 + L in any direction

Lunge:

Xbox One: Flick LS in any direction

PS4: Flick L in any direction

Long Lunge:

Xbox One: LB + Flick LS

PS4: L1 + Flick L
