Undisputed Motion Capture

Steel City Interactive released new gameplay and motion capture footage on Tuesday Jan. 24 in an Undisputed trailer video. The one minute clip, found on the official Undisputed YouTube channel, features a motion capture session with legendary boxer Roy Jones Jr.

The hype video shows off the former champion’s signature moves in the videogame. The gameplay provides players a preview of Undisputed, which goes live on Steam Early Access on PC on Jan. 31, 2023.

“If I do anything…a boxing game…anything I do that represents me, you got to represent me, for real,” says Jones in the new trailer. “I want to give you my movements.”

Jones was a playable fighter in the Undisputed beta, in late 2022. The iconic fighter featured similar animations seen in today’s trailer. While today’s video displays Roy Jones Jr.’s animations, SGO’s exclusive with Undisputed in December 2021 explored the scanning and character creation process involved in recreating Jones Jr.

Undisputed Early Access Roster

Undisputed will launch with an official Early Access roster of over 50 fighters. Saúl Canelo Álvarez, Muhammad Ali, and Roy Jones Jr. headline the male division and Undisputed will feature a full roster of female fighters headlined by Katie Taylor.

Steel City Interactive is actively working towards a full console launch across the newer generation of PlayStation and Xbox consoles. The console release date is unconfirmed at this time.

Undisputed is targeting simulation gameplay, which partially explains its slow development time. The Undisputed development team has expressed the need to continue to fine-tune gameplay balance in the coming months. SCI founder Ash Habib has emphasized his team’s intention to make the gameplay as realistic as possible, which potentially results in a steep learning curve.

“If you try to play this like other combat games, there’s a chance of getting completely wiped out. We need to make sure it is balanced properly,” said Habib. “We are pushing ourselves to deliver the best to the community.”

Undisputed is Steel City Interactive’s first studio title, and the game is under development in partnership with Ten24 Digital Capture.
