UFC 4 Won’t Feature Ultimate Team

UFC 4 Ultimate Team

When UFC 4 launches in August, one mode that fans have seen will no longer be a part of the game: Ultimate Team.

In an interview with GameSpot, UFC 4 creative director Brian Hayes that the mode’s removal had a lot to do with its popularity, or lack thereof.

“There is no Ultimate Team in UFC for this year that was a unique decision for us,” he said. “What we learned is just looking at UFC 3. It’s just not as popular mode for us in terms of what it requires to support and build and develop those modes because they’re really complex, they’re really broad, they’re really deep, but it’s nowhere near on the level of popularity and engagement for us as it is shown to be on games like FIFA and Madden and NHL.”

Without Ultimate Team, the team at EA Vancouver have worked to overhaul a number of gameplay mechanics as well as make depth improvements to the game’s career mode.

Gameplay sees changes to ground and pound, clinch, takedowns, and submission system. Career mode will now see you build a story behind your fighter, and see players have more control over your career path than ever before.

UFC 4 releases on August 14 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
