The latest Developer Update from Steel City Interactive covers some very important improvements coming to boxer AI. From individualization of fighters to manipulate stats and ratings, the latest update addresses it all.
Undisputed New AI Improvements
As mentioned, in the latest update video, Steel City Interactive talks massive improvements to boxer AI. With the updates, players will notice leaps made to improve boxer individualization. AI for Each boxer will fall into one of four archetypes. The archetypes include Slugger, Out Boxer, Swarmer, and Boxer Puncher, with each archetype affecting behavior in the ring. Each one is said to feel uniquely different as well as broadly reflect how the fighters of each type fight in real life.
During match, players will notice different tactics per each archetypes, for example, sluggers take more punches in order to find an opening to deal a more powerful blow. In contrast, a swarmer will try to overwhelm opponents with an onslaught of strikes. In addition, Undisputed further defines each archetype by specifying the types of combinations used by each type as well as individualizing how each reacts to being damaged, and much more. This includes things like how they take advantage of dazed opponents.
Of course, when we talk about types of fighting styles, we must think balance. In Undisputed, each archetype will be balanced individually. By the time of launch, boxers will have slightly different modifiers on various stats related to their archetype. As an example, players will notice sluggers have more health and a higher damage output. To complement the design, Steel City Interactive has also referenced a ton of historic data to assign traits and ratings to the already impressive roster of included boxers.
Be sure to stay tuned for the next update covering gameplay balancing. Undisputed launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC Steam (1.0) on October 11, 2024.
