3 Players in Madden 23 Who Deserve a Ratings Boost

Madden 23 Cover

Madden fans will always gripe about their favorite player’s Madden rating. Most claims tend to be unjustifiable in the overall balance of the game. However, every so often a few NFL players do get the short end of the balancing stick. After watching the 2022 season, we feel that these three players should be more appreciated in Madden 23, if not then in Madden 24!

3 players who need a ratings boost in Madden 23

Rhamondre Stevenson (New England Patriots)

Currently, Stevenson has a mere rating of 80 on Madden 23. He has certainly been better than that during the 2022 season. Stevenson has been the Patriots’ offense in 2022, without him they would be among the worst teams in the NFL and picked in the top 10 of the 2023 Draft. Damien Harris endured a spate of injuries throughout the campaign, leaving Stevenson as the Patriots’ lone back. The 24-year-old has risen to the occasion in his sophomore season, running for almost 1,000 yards and five touchdowns along with 400 receiving yards and a further score.

Mac Jones’ stagnation at quarterback and the coaching situation on offense in New England have been a huge detriment to the overall operation under Belichick, but Stevenson has remained consistent, reeling off massive runs time and again to save his team. Stevenson has had his flubs late in the year, being one of the guilty parties in the crazy lateral pass that caused the Patriots to lose in stunning fashion against the Raiders and then again fumbling against the Bengals the following week. However, Stevenson should be known as one of the best backs in the NFL and should be worth at least a high eighties score for Madden 24.

Amon-Ra St Brown (Detroit Lions)

The Detroit Lions have been one of the most enjoyable teams to watch this season in the NFL. In the NFL spreads, the Lions are either backed as favorites or huge underdogs, notably in week 18 against the Packers at +4.5. You never know what you’re going to get out of the Lions, which makes them fascinating. One element of the franchise that has been consistent this term is St Brown. He has been Jared Goff’s favorite weapon and the offense has flowed through his performances on the field.

St Brown was taken in the fourth round of the 2021 Draft but has outperformed many of the players in his class. He has taken huge strides forward in his sophomore year due to the quality of his route running and catching in tight quarters. The wideout broke the 1,000-yard barrier despite missing two games due to injury and has been invaluable throughout the campaign. His current Madden rating of 84 does not do him justice given his consistency and importance to one of the most improved offenses in the NFL in 2022.

It’s no secret that Goff and company struggled in 2021, but St Brown’s breakout season has allowed them to develop and thrive. Let’s give our man a boost in Madden 24.

Jalen Pitre (Houston Texans)

You could be forgiven for thinking we’re a little bit crazy for picking a Texans player with our last pick, but Pitre has been one of the bright sparks of their campaign. Pitre was selected in the second round of the 2022 Draft and has been a solid presence in the secondary. The safety has been a sure-enough tackler, notching 139 total tackles, one sack, and five interceptions throughout the season

Pitre certainly likes to be around the ball and his skills have been highlighted in the Texans’ win over the Tennessee Titans and his two-interception performance against the Chicago Bears in week three. There is a lot more to come from the talented rookie. He has a current rating of 76, which is probably fair at the moment. But, as Pitre develops, he could be ready to make a surge into the mid-eighties. Look out for him in the 2023 season.
