The Axis Football series will continue this year when Axis Football 2023 launches in late August/early September. The announcement came via the game’s social media accounts on Wednesday.
The first thing that fans obviously notice is the name change
. Instead of going from Axis Football 2021 to 2022, the team at Axis Games decided to “skip a year” for the name of the game.
“The main reason for this is to better align with the naming convention most other sports games use,” Axis Games President Danny Jugan told SGO. “We would often get questions indicating that most users thought our games were a year behind everything else out there. We felt this was the year to make the jump since the gameplay improvements are so drastic.”
Axis Football 2023 will feature overhauls to gameplay elements such as passing, receiving, tackling, and more. The game will feature over 50 throwing animations in total, up from just two in Axis Football 2021. On the defensive side of the ball, there will be over 100 interception animations to go along with 50-plus swat animations for players.
As far as when the public will get a deeper look at what’s to come with this year’s game, Jugan said it’s coming soon.
“We’ve shown a few things off to our Patreon supporters, and the feedback has been incredibly encouraging,” he said. “We’ll release more information in the coming months.”
