Recently, reports circulated stating EA Sports College Football would be delayed another year. Now, just a day or so later, we have confirmation of a brand new release date window for the upcoming game.
EA Sports College Football release delayed
EA Sports vice president and GM, Daryl Holt, spoke with ESPN recently. In the interview, Holt spoke about moving the launch for EA Sports College Football due to the effort and resources required to build the game from scratch. For the team working on the game, Holt explains it is not about rushing to market. Rather, this time it is about making sure the first edition of the game is of a high standard and solid foundation. Like Madden, EA Sports College Football aims to be an annual launch title. Currently, the game now has a launch window of the Summer of 2024.

Additionally, Holt spoke to previously speculated release windows, calling them “conjecture” at best. For the team behind it, this is not a delay but rather the first time they have a general idea of just how long the game will need in order for it to be at its best for what EA has planned. One of the biggest issues has been the inclusion of real-life college players. With NIL in place, players can receive compensation for their inclusion in games. At this time, Holt did not speak to just how this will look for College Football. Although, an EA source did tell ESPN that players will be compensated if they are in the game. That said, Holt did mention the same goes for schools being included, and that several FBS schools have committed. However, he did not say which.
