Interview with the Youngest Madden Championship Series Winner in History!

The Madden NFL 23 Ultimate Thanksgiving tournament wrapped up last week, with 17-year-old Dez taking home the belt. Today, SGO’s Brandon Satterwhite sat down with Dez to talk about his historic title run. You can catch the interview in its entirety in the video above.

Madden Ultimate Thanksgiving

This was Dez’s first time qualifying for a Madden Championship Series (MCS) tournament. Dez came into the tournament as the 20th seed. In the quarterfinal matchup against 10th-seeded KMAC, Dez was able to overcome an early 10-point deficit to advance to Day 2 of the tournament.

Dez then faced Madden veteran Wesley in the semifinals. Dez dominated the majority of the game, but it got close when Wesley made it a one-possession game. Dez was able to hold on though and win 27-22.

After a nearly 2 hour wait, Dez faced off against Clef The God. Clef was in his tenth MCS major tournament and seeking to finally win his first belt. However, Clef threw an interception on his opening drive. This allowed Dez to take the lead and never look back. Dez won the game 41-28, making it the highest-scoring MCS final in history. That wasn’t the only way Dez made history in this tournament. Being only 17 years old, Dez became the youngest person to ever win an MCS major tournament.

SGO Interview

In today’s interview, Dez talks to Brandon as the two recap Dez’s historic title run while also discussing:

Dez will now look to continue his hot play as the MCS season continues. The next major on the MCS calendar is the Ultimate Wild Card tournament, which will take place on January 6 and 11. This will be the last major before the season concludes at the Ultimate Madden Bowl.
