Madden 20: EA Sports and ESPN Announce Return of Madden Competitive Gaming to TV

With no live sports currently going on, ESPN is adding more eSports content to their schedule, as ESPN2 will air five hours of Madden content this weekend, as well as the Madden Bowl in May.

Madden Content on ESPN2

After the conclusion of the NFL Draft, ESPN will continue the football theme, as ESPN2 will air several hours of Madden content during this pause in the sports industry. The content will focus around the Madden Bowl, and the five-hour block will commence with games from the Madden Celebrity Tournament Championship at 12 PM EST. Following these games will be the first two episodes of the ‘Road to the Madden Bowl’ Series. After the airing of these episodes will be the live ‘Madden 20 Last Chance Qualifier’, which will start at 2 PM EST.

In a press released today, EA Sports SVP and GM of the Competitive Gaming Division Todd Sitrin stated that he hopes that this partnership between EA and ESPN can help invite the sport community to the world of eSports. “At a time where live sports are paused, esports has stepped up as an incredible source of entertainment, inspiration and joy for fans across the world.” He added, “Through this exciting programming with ESPN, we can invite the broader sports community to be a part of the unique and authentic Madden esports competition, keeping gamers and traditional sports fans alike connected, while staying safe at home.”

EA Sports and ESPN also announced the viewing schedule for the upcoming Madden Bowl. Games from the Madden Bowl will be aired starting on May 6, and can be viewed on Twitch, YouTube and the ESPN app. The event will conclude on May 16, when the semi-finals and finals will be aired. Those games can be seen on ESPN2.
