Madden 22 – A New Face Of The Franchise

In their latest Gridiron Notes, dubbed “Face of the Franchise: United We Rise“, EA Sports takes players deeper into all the new features in the Madden NFL 22 career mode.

Madden 22 Face of the Franchise Notes

Career mode in Madden 22 begins with a new Road to the Draft. In this segment, players start as a generational prospect in the 2021 NFL Draft. During this time, players train and compete with some of the best NFL players at Nike Headquarters. Players also have the opportunity to improve their draft stock. This is possible via the College Football Playoff, NFL team interviews, and private workouts with select teams. Building a brand means taking part in events exclusive to top prospects and pros. Additionally, players can meet and interact with a diverse cast of characters. These characters will be both invested in your success and their own individual pursuits. From flashback college games to interviews with prospective NFL teams, your words and actions on and off the field will drive your draft stock.

Madden 22 Class Progression

This year, Madden 22 introduces the concept of classes. These classes define how you play each position on the field. There are four positions this year: QB, WR, HB, and for the first time in Face of the Franchise, a defensive position, Linebacker. Each position has several classes to choose from. Each one reflects a specific playstyle on the field.

Classes features three Superstar Abilities and one X-Factor ability. These abilities play into how characters perform on the field. In addition, they can even be customized to player specific style and needs.

Along with X-Factor and Superstar Abilities, leveling up classes earns you Skill Points and skill ratings, but also earns CRED, REP, and exclusive gear for the Yard.

Career Hub, podcasts, & more

At the center of the new avatar career experience is the all-new career hub. Here, players can access info to make key decisions and take on new challenges in the Road to the Draft and NFL seasons. Scenarios, Side Activities, and Class Progression will be a simple click away in this hub.

Madden 22 implements over 70 podcast segments. Podcasts are composed of interviews, mic’d up clips, opinions, and trivia. Some even feature story beats based on player career performance and choices. The podcasts begin in Road to the Draft with The Rich Eisen Show, and continue in the NFL with two more hosts: Kevin Connors and Nia Polanco, from the fictional cast.

At the heart of Face of the Franchise lives the enhanced season engine. Start the week by completing a side activity to earn buffs for the week ahead. Then, play through various weekly storylines set up to create new challenges and gameplay moments while affecting other scenarios throughout the season. Dozens of scenarios exist and can trigger all based on player position, team and weekly performance. On a weekly basis, players will choose how to spend spare time. Every moment is another chance for growth. Players can select one of up to three different opportunities available each week. Each grants their own unique buff or reward. This allows players to evolve in the way best suited for their playstyle.

Pressure moments

Throughout the career mode, players will be dropped into unique scenarios. Examples include bouncing back from a slow start to the season or having to make a comeback after a lightning storm delays the game. Pressure Moments aim to provide immersive experiences to players while facing challenges and situations NFL athletes deal with throughout a season. On top of enhanced presentation, those playing on Xbox Series X|S or PS5 will get the added feature of Dynamic Gameday integration into Pressure Moments.
