NFL VR Game NFL Pro Era Reveals Release Date

Do real NFL Quarterbacks get motion sickness, too?

A release date for the previously announced NFL VR game seems to have been revealed, along with the game’s cover athlete. In a tweet sent earlier this morning, Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson revealed the release date for NFL Pro Era, a new VR experience. The game will be coming to VR platforms on September 15, just two weeks from today! The tweet also showed what appears to be the cover for the game. If it is, the cover features Jackson, who will be the first cover athlete for this new title.

NFL Pro Era Lets You Run The Huddle

In a gameplay trailer released on the Meta Quest YouTube channel, we saw a bit of what NFL Pro Era will offer. The trailer shows players taking control of cover athlete Lamar Jackson. The trailer advertises becoming an NFL QB.  Jackson’s tweet also says to “get ready to see what it’s like to be QB1.” This seems to suggest that the gameplay for NFL Pro Era will mainly focus on the quarterback experience. The trailer also states the game will feature all 32 NFL teams.

NFL Pro Era is being developed by StatusPro. This is a technology company founded by former athletes Andrew Hawkins and Troy Jones. Hawkins played in the NFL for 7 years while he earned a master’s degree from Columbia University. Jones is a former D-1 QB who played at Western Kentucky and Akron.

In the years since the company’s founding, they have developed tools like Pre-Game Prep, a training product used by NFL coaches and players. This VR tool lets players simulate practice reps and situations. The company also touts investments from athletes and celebrities like LeBron James, Naomi Osaka, Drake, and the Ravens QB himself.

Earlier this year, the NFL announced a partnership with StatusPro to develop a fully NFL-licensed VR simulation video game. This is great for football fans who are looking for something new in terms of NFL licensed games. NFL Pro Era will be the first licensed NFL video game for consoles outside of EA Sports’ Madden NFL series since NFL Tour which released in 2008.
