On Wednesday, EA Sports announced that John Madden will be on the cover of Madden 23. On Thursday, the company will have the official Madden 23 reveal in the form of the game’s first trailer.
The trailer, which you’ll be able to watch above, is expected to include the major features coming to this year’s game along with an official release date.
Back in April, SGO exclusively reported a number of new gameplay features coming to Madden 23. It should be expected that those features will be announced as part of the reveal.
These features include a new skill-based passing mechanic similar to the vision cone of the mid-2000s. Along with that comes changes to tackling with a new mini-game called “Tackle Battles”.
Tackle Battles happen when a user attempts to perform a Conservative Tackle with A/X. This minigame will see users mash the A/X button to either make the tackle or break a tackle. During a Tackle Battle, the ball carrier will be more susceptible to fumbles depending on various attributes. Players will be required to use various mechanics like protecting the ball and give-up to avoid the various hit stick and strip attempts from defenders.
Madden 23 launches this summer for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
