Forza Horizon 5 Wins Big At Game Awards

Playground Games’ Forza Horizon 5 won best sports/racing game at The Game Awards 2021. Forza Horizon 5 has impressed fans with its beautiful recreation of Mexico and fantastic driving mechanics. In addition, the game has an excellent character creator and fun story. The game received a perfect score from many reviewers and a 92% on Metacritic. F1 2021, FIFA 22, Hot Wheels Unleashed, and Riders Republic all were also nominated for the award.

Horizon 5 Premium Edition found immediate success, gaining over one million players before its official launch. However, once the game was officially released, that number jumped up to 4.5 million players in 24 hours. Now, Playground Games’ newest racer has surpassed 10 million players and has won three categories at The Game Awards.

Forza Horizon 5 Wins More

The Game Awards handed out a new award called the Innovation and Accessibility Award. This category aims to acknowledge video games that use accessibility features to help players with disabilities enjoy games. Forza Horizon 5 is the first game to accept the award for its sign language feature. This feature gives players that are deaf the option to play cutscenes with a sign language interpreter. It’s important to recognize the games that go above and beyond to implement a new feature to include gamers with disabilities, hopefully, we see more developers do this.

Lastly, Forza took home the best audio design award. The game has a stellar audio design, from how cars sound when driving them to the music representing the Horizon festival. However, some awesome games filled the best audio design category, like Resident Evil Village, Death Loop, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. All of these games could have won in their own right.
