If you’ve been patiently waiting for the return of EA Sports to golf, you’re going to have to wait a bit longer as the company announced that EA Sports PGA Tour won’t be coming until spring 2023.
Originally planned for a release in spring 2022, EA Sports PGA Tour, has been touted as a “next-gen” golf title for fans of the sport. The game will feature all four major championship tournaments, the FedexCup Playoffs, and even the LPGA. It will also include various PGA and LPGA pros, though no official golfers have been announced as of yet.
“There are few things in sports that match the thrill of winning a major championship, and we’re excited to bring all four majors – the Masters Tournament, PGA Championship, U.S. Open Championship, and The Open Championship – and a true next gen championship golf experience to fans next year,” said Cam Weber, EVP and GM, EA SPORTS, in the release. “Through our PGA TOUR and LPGA partnerships, all-new PGA TOUR athlete tracking integration, and events like THE PLAYERS Championship and FedExCup Playoffs, players will be able to get an all-access pass to pro championship golf like never before.
EA Sports PGA Tour will be the company’s first golf sim title since Rory McIlrory PGA Tour in 2015 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The game is expected to be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, though no platforms have been confirmed.
