Nintendo Switch Sports Continues Wii Sports’ Legacy, Releases In April

Time to live out your mid-2000’s Wii Sports nostalgia with Nintendo Switch Sports. The Nintendo Wii was the hottest console in 2006 and came packaged with one of gaming’s littlest surprises; a copy of Wii Sports. This game was essential to learning and understanding the Wii’s most significant feature, motion controls. Not only were the motion controls very responsive, but the five sports games included in Wii Sports were very fun to play.

Nintendo held another Nintendo Direct and announced that this series would continue with Nintendo Switch Sports on Wednesday. Just like its predecessor, Switch Sports will have six games at launch and will utilize the motion controls in the Joy-Cons.

If you buy the game’s physical edition, you will also receive a Leg Strap accessory compatible with your Joy-Cons. The Leg Strap will be used in Nintendo’s soccer shootout mode. However, Nintendo will most likely add in more sports that will utilize the Leg Strap after launch.

When Can You Play Nintendo Switch Sports?

Nintendo Switch Sports releases April 29. However, if you are eager to play it now and a Nintendo Switch Online subscriber, you can play a special online test from February 18 to 20.

Following the Switch Sports launch, the game will receive two free updates. The first will be the soccer shootout mode that I mentioned earlier in the article. In addition, Nintendo will add golf to the sports collection this fall.
