But what was revealed early on Thursday is just the tip of what’s to come as there are more NHL 23 details that have come to light.

What New NHL 23 Details Are There?

First, regarding franchise mode. Every year fans are hoping for the return of an online franchise. While that won’t be the case in NHL 23, franchise isn’t going untouched, especially when it comes to customization.

NHL 23’s franchise mode will allow nearly full customization for league setup from team amounts to scheduling to even how points are assigned for games. Players will be able to have anywhere from 6-48 teams in the league, dynamic scheduling with opponent setup, custom point rewards such as a 3-2-1 point system, the amount of teams that qualify for playoffs, custom tiebreakers for standings, and full playoff restructure customization.

Moving on to to presentation, it has received a major overhaul when it comes to overall atmosphere and in-game presentation. In NHL 23 there will be a more involved crowd like that guy who yells “SHOOT!” on a power play. There will also be better reactions too home-team play such as Bronx cheers and booing. Improved goal horn sounds as well as general sounds of excitement, relief, and disappointment during games.

Lastly, gameplay. NHL 23 will include 50 new desperation save types, “hundreds” of new goalie animations, improved poke checking, over 500 animations for new gameplay features such as off-balance shots, defensive plays, clears, and more. There are also new on-ice strategies like a wedge penalty kill strategy or a 1-3-1 power play.

NHL 23 launches on October 14 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
