NHL 19 Revamps Crucial Feature In Franchise Mode

EA promises a new level of depth and immersion for NHL 19. This year’s game features revamped scouting mechanics that assess players and provide insightful data to help you get the most out of your prospects and team building experience.

NHL 19 Franchise Mode Scouting

In this new revamped scouting engine, you’ll put together a team of 20 scouts. Your 20 man team will be comprised of amateur and pro scouts who will affect drafting, trading, free agency, and waiver wire pickups. Each scout will specialize in a set of different skills and regions. In addition, they will feature over 30 different ratings to determine their effectiveness as a scout. Also, each will have two areas regarding Evaluation Abilities and Region Familiarity.

Improved Amateur Scouting

NHL 19 improves upon amateur scouting as well. This year, it features a central scouting rank for each prospect. These ranks can then be compared against the information your team of scouts collected. You’ll also have access to reports. These reports provide helpful information about prospects entering the NHL. In them, you’ll find info regarding point totals from various junior leagues, player personality, potential, and strengths/weaknesses that compare them to a similar NHL player or alumni. Additionally, reports include a Skills Assessment, Scout Rank, and information on a skater’s playstyle.

The addition of Accuracy Ratings add an element of risk and reward. Selecting prospects based on confident assessments from scouts could make the difference in drafting an elite potential prospect. Scouts recommend prospect Gems to go after as well as who might be Busts to avoid when drafting.

Fog of War

When enabled, the new Fog of War masks certain player attributes as the season progresses. This requires your pro scouts to watch teams and reveal updated info on the players you want to acquire. This goes for acquisitions made through trades or free agency. Playing or simulating games against teams also clears the Fog of War. Doing this will help improve the accuracy of ratings for opposing players. Be sure to check out the official EA Sports post or the video above for complete details.
