How Much Did Tony Hawk Make From His Tony Hawk Pro Skater Games?

Skating to the money.

There is no denying that the original Tony Hawk Pro Skater series is one of the most popular franchises among fans. The first game, Tony Hawk Pro Skater, kicked off a legendary series that would be the benchmark for extreme sports games for years. But how much did Tony Hawk make from Activision during his incredible gaming run from 1999 to 2002?

How Much Did Tony Hawk Make From His Games?

Twitter page, AuxGod recently posted a clip of The Nine Club podcast where Hawk questioned about his earning in the gaming industry. According to the skateboard legend, he was handed a four-million-dollar check from his Activision representative.

“When the fourth game was released,” Hawk said. ” My main contact at Activision asked to have lunch with me in LA. And he like, ‘here’s what’s happening, we’re releasing the fourth game. The last three are still in the top 10 of sales. So things are bigger than you’ve ever thought.’ Then he handed me a check for 4 million dollars.”

Around this time, the gaming industry was growing rapidly, and for Tony Hawk to receive that much money was a lot. It’s nice to hear that the pro skater got the money he deserved from the publisher, and hopefully, we can see another return from the series in the future.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater in the present day

We here at Sports Gamers Online loved Vicarious Visions’ Pro Skater 1 & 2 remake. It felt like a return to glory for the series after the bombshell that was Pro Skater 5. However, last year Vicarious Visions merged with Activision Blizzard, which ultimately was the demise of the Tony Hawk Pro Skater remake series.

During Andy Gentile’s Twitch stream, Tony Hawk revealed that there were plans to continue the series of remakes, but Activision never moved forward with them.

“They took other pitches from other studios,” Hawk said, “like, what would you do with the THPS title? And [Activision] didn’t like anything they heard.”

Hopefully, the series will make a return that it deserves. What do you think about Tony Hawk’s earnings? Let us know in the comments.
