3. WR- Keenan Allen (San Diego Chargers)
Now, I might get some angry comments on this one, but let me explain! Yes, he’s only 25 and 91 overall, but it doesn’t matter how old or high rated you are when you can barely stay on the field. The dude has 71 injury man! He’s like the ultimately tease and you must ask yourself is it worth it. You can hold your breath every time he gets tackled, or turn this into something more stable and flip him for a young stud quarterback (because Rivers isn’t getting any younger), a couple offensive linemen, linebackers.
My point is the Chargers need a lot of help, and Allen is the one asset you can trade on their team to help improve that while not destroying that position. Because the Chargers have Tyrell Williams and most importantly Mike Williams who you can then with Allen out of the picture put all your effort into developing giving you 2 trees to throw jump balls too. Also Travis Benjamin, who isn’t that young, is a nice slot receiver until you find something better.
Bottom line is yes, Allen is one of the better receivers in the game, but in the name of team building and risk management I would pack his bags ASAP before he’s on your Injured Reserve and you got nothing for your troubles.
2. HB- Tevin Coleman (Atlanta Falcons)
While Coleman at least in Madden has been a beast ever since he touched down in Atlanta because of his unique combination of speed, ability to break ankles and steam roll defenders, but after Freeman just signed an extension to stay in Atlanta for a really long time, Coleman’s days became numbered.
The good thing is he has a lot of things going for him, he’s a #1 back stuck as a backup and his high overall is proof of that, great speed and can pull off basically any more you like and he’s only 24 years old. So, the return for him should be good, just don’t let anybody talk your offer down because “he’s your backup” as people like to say to get guys for the low.
1. QB- Tom Brady (New England Patriots)
Now I know, it’s Tom Brady. How could you trade the GOAT? Well in sports even the best can get traded. Wayne Gretzky got traded; Ken Griffey; Joe Montana. So, it’s time to let go of the sentimentality of it all and look at it for what it is. Tom Brady is 40, but he’s still a 99, so you can shop him around to QB needy teams and get a useful younger player or a good pick (I’ve seen him get traded for a 1st last Madden it can happen. And I’ll admit this was a much easier case to make when the Pats still have Brissett and Garrapolo, but Garrapolo is still waiting in the wings and will hit free agency after the first season in your league.
So, if you don’t do anything Brady might retire after the season and Garrapolo will hit Free Agency where you’ll have to resign him anyways. So, if you didn’t win the Superbowl with Brady in the first season and end up resigning Garraoplo, you might as well have traded Brady for something. Yea his cap penalty is 21 Million which is kind of high, but it’s a trade him or lose him for nothing situation.
Do you agree with this list? Who is a player that you made sure you traded ASAP as soon as your league started?
