The MLB season is at an in-between spot. We are past the festivities of the All-Star and Field of Dreams games, but still a few weeks away from the final postseason push. This doesn’t stop MLB The Show 22 from getting new content updates though. A new Featured Program has arrived to help players get through the dog days of summer. The program brings with it new bosses, a new event, and more.

Dog Days of Summer

The Dog Days of Summer Featured Program arrives today in MLB The Show 22. This program is a short one, as it will only last two weeks. Players will earn all the usual stuff they have seen in previous Featured Programs. The main point of this program is that at 150,000 program XP, players will earn a 98 OVR 2nd Half Mickey Mantle.

This Mantle card will be an appetizer to the bosses choice pack waiting for players at 200,000 XP. This choice pack allows players to choose from one of the three bosses, similar to how MLB The Show 21’s Inning Programs did. The three new 99 OVR bosses are:

  • Milestone C Johnny Bench
  • Retro Finest SS Cal Ripken Jr.
  • Awards SP Pedro Martinez

Dog Days of Summer Event

Along with the new Featured Program is a new event. This new event will have players use several different series of cards in 3-inning games on All-Star difficulty. 12 wins in the event earns you Retro Finest Luis Aparicio, 15 wins rewards Awards Hal Newhouser, and 20 wins mean you can add a 2nd Half Eddie Murray to your roster.

Topps Now

The next set of Topps Now moments have been added to the August Monthly Awards Program. By completing the new moments in the program, players will earn the five new 93 OVR cards:

  • Giants 2B Thairo Estrada
  • Rays SP Drew Rasmussen
  • White Sox SP Michael Kopech
  • Braves 2B Vaughn Grissom
  • Nationals 2B Joey Meneses

Roster Update

MLB The Show 22 also received its first roster attribute update in several weeks. This update is a big one as five players made their first appearance as Diamond cards. These new Diamond include:

  • Guardians CP Emmanuel Clase
  • Guardians 2B Andres Gimenez
  • Braves 3B Austin Riley
  • Phillies SP Zach Wheeler
  • White Sox SP Dylan Cease

There were some other notable changes to overalls amongst the top players. Yankees CF Aaron Judge went up three overall to a 97 OVR. Jacob DeGrom, Paul Goldschmidt, and Nolan Arenado each went up two overall points.

Headliners Set

Headliners Set 39 has been added to The Show Shop. The newest Headliner is 99 OVR Retro Finest Jason Kendall. This card is based on Kendall’s 1998 season, where he hit 36 doubles with a .327/.411/.473 line.
