The MLB regular is coming to an end. At the moment of my writing this, teams are playing game 162 on the final day of the season. The playoffs are all locked up, and fans across the country are waiting to see their teams make a run towards the Fall Classic. Before the playoffs begin though, MLB The Show 22 has a content drop to put a cap on the regular season that was 2022. This final content drop before the playoffs includes a program to celebrate Aaron Judge breaking the AL HR record, the conclusion of the September Monthly Awards Program, a new event and BR program, and new packs.
MLB The Show 22 Celebrates Aaron Judge’s 62nd Home Run
Aaron Judge Program
Aaron Judge has had one of the greatest seasons of any hitter in the history of baseball. In the second to last game of the season, Judge hit his 62nd HR of the season to break Roger Maris’ AL and New York Yankees single season HR records. On top of this record-breaking performance, Judge is a front-runner for AL MVP, and, depending on how things go in the final game of the regular season, has a slight chance at winning the Triple Crown.
To honor this great season, MLB The Show 22 has created the Aaron Judge Program. Like other player programs from this year, players will complete moments, missions, and exchanges to earn progress. The big reward for this program is 99 OVR Milestone Aaron Judge, with one of the best-looking card arts in the entire game.
September Players of the Month
Several players had incredible performances throughout the month of September. Out of the many players to choose from, the final Lightning Player of the Month has been awarded to Blue Jays SS Bo Bichette. Bichette had an incredible month, batting .403 with 7 HRs and 27 RBIs to help the Blue Jays secure a Wild Card spot. Players can now work their way towards his 99 OVR Lightning card by progressing through the second stage of the September Monthly Awards Program.
Along with Bichette comes nine Monthly Awards cards. Since this is the final month, these cards are the best we have seen of any of the Monthly Awards programs. The nine Monthly Award cards include:
- Mets 3B Eduardo Escorbar (99 OVR)
- Padres SP Blake Snell (99 OVR)
- Twins SS Carlos Correa (99 OVR)
- Phillies RP Jose Alvarado (98 OVR)
- Giants CP Camilo Doval (98 OVR)
- Athletics CF Seth Brown (98 OVR)
- White Sox LF Eloy Jimenez (98 OVR)
- Rangers 2B Marcus Semien (98 OVR)
- Cardinals SP Jose Quintana (98 OVR)
Topps Now
The final Topps Now cards and moments have also been added into the September Monthly Awards Program. Players can complete the final batch of moments to earn these three new 95 OVR Topps Now cards:
- Giants 2B Ford Proctor
- Braves SP Bryce Elder
- Mariners C Cal Raleigh
If players collect all 17 of the Topps Now cards from the September Monthly Awards Program, they will get 99 OVR Topps Now Anthony Santander.
Monthly Awards Event
Along with the completion of the September Monthly Awards Program comes the September Monthly Awards Event. This event has players use Monthly Awards, Live Series, and Topps Now cards in online matches. 15 wins in the program earns players 2016 Topps Now Noah Syndergaard while 20 wins rewards 2019 Topps Now Bryce Harper.
Battle Royale Program 8
The 8th BR program is now playable in MLB The Show 22. Make it to 90 points in the program to earn 99 OVR Retro Finest 1B Ryan Howard. If you can earn the Flawless Pack by either progressing the program or going 12-0, you will get to choose from the two new 99 OVR bosses: 2020 Postseason SS Corey Seager and Retro Finest SP Corey Kluber.
Headliners Bundle
The Headliners Bundle is now available in The Show Shop for 10,000 stubs. This bundle includes three random Headliners Packs from any of the 50 Headliner Sets that have been released.
