MLB The Show 22 launches on April 5, and the team at Sony San Diego has announced its weekly features premiere schedule. From a new online co-op mode to Diamond Dynasty, plenty will be covered through the game’s launch. One thing missing from the schedule, however, is any mention of MLB The Show 22 franchise mode.

- 3/31 – Diamond Dynasty, Live Content, and Esports
The mode has left much to be desired over the years with changes coming few and far between. With many fans hoping the second installment of the franchise on the next-gen PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S would see updates, not having any mention is sure to leave a foul taste in their mouths.
From GM contracts, season length adjustments, better player progression and regression, and more, there’s plenty that fans have been wanting to see from MLB The Show’s franchise mode. There won’t be a return of online franchise despite a clamoring. Nor will other requests like league expansion, international player pools — which would make sense to finally include with Shohei Ohtani being the game’s cover athlete, or even multi-team trades. The list truly goes on and on.
It seems that unless they surprise everyone, Franchise Mode will go untouched in MLB The Show 22.
Instead, it will be all about modes that bring in money via stub sales like Diamond Dynasty and Road to the Show. It’s a clear sign of where the priorities lie for Sony. If it doesn’t generate potential revenue, it truly doesn’t matter.
It’s a slap in the face of every franchise mode fan out there.
