With the new year comes a new MLB The Show game. While the game isn’t usually revealed until February, we have already gotten some information about the next game in the series. Last month, SDS gave us an idea of what to expect from some of the modes coming to MLB The Show 25. Now, more information is coming out about what we could possibly see added this year.
Listening to Feedback
Today, Brian Mazique published an article with Forbes that revealed some information about what to expect from MLB The Show 25. According to Mazique, SDS has heard the feedback players have given about the recent entries in the series, and “MLB The Show 25 will be designed to feel like a fan-appreciation version of the series.”
New Legends
The biggest revelation from Mazique’s article was an update on new legends that could possibly be coming to the game. According to Mazique, Nomar Garciaparra and Roger Clemens both have a “great chance” of being featured legends this year. Mazique noted that Alex Rodriguez and Manny Ramirez have also been brought up as possible new legends this year.
All four of these players would be incredibly exciting to see in MLB The Show 25. Since the inclusion of Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa in MLB The Show 23, it seems quite possible that more players from baseball’s infamous steroid era could arrive in the game.
One name that was not mentioned to Mazique was Barry Bonds. Many fans have speculated online that Bonds could be making a return to the game this year. However, Mazique said nothing surrounding baseball’s home run record holder has been confirmed yet.
Road to the Show
In the article, Mazique also says that Road to the Show is set to receive some major updates this year. Mazique notes that the journey for your player prior to hitting the big leagues will be “greatly enhanced.” This information fits with what SDS revealed last month, when they said the journey to getting drafted would be much deeper. What exactly this will entail is yet to be determined.
Storylines
Mazique was able to confirm that Storylines and Negro League players would both be returning in MLB The Show 25. Since being introduced in MLB The Show 23, Storylines mode has been incredibly popular among fans. The partnership between SDS and The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum has allowed many fans of baseball and video games to learn about some of the forgotten heroes of black baseball in America.
Franchise
The article mentioned that Franchise mode is set to receive some updates to offseason activities. In particular, contract negotiations, free agency, and trades are set to receive some improvements this year.
Release Date
Finally, Mazique said he expects to see MLB The Show 25 release in the second half of March. His exact prediction is Friday, March 21, 2025. This would be a similar timeframe to what we have seen the last two years, which have both seen MLB The Show release in mid to late-March.
