Sports games and VR gaming have always been a great pair. The often simple gameplay and motion controls have long made sports games a popular choice for VR developers. In the last few years, we have seen a few major sports games release on VR platforms, such as NFL Pro Era and its sequel. Now, it looks like a new game is looking to bring a lesser talked about sports to VR platforms.
Rival Stars Horse Racing: VR Edition
Today, Rival Stars Horse Racing: VR Edition was announced to be coming to the Meta Quest Store and Steam VR in 2025. This will be the first VR entry in developer PikPok’s Rival Stars Horse Racing series. The original Rival Stars Horse Racing is a mobile horse racing game with a 4.8 rating on the Apple App Store with over 130,000 reviews.
In this new entry, players will take on the role of a stable master. You will get to breed horses to unlock new coats and patterns. As you raise your horses, you will be responsible for grooming, feeding, and bonding with each horse in your stable. As they grow, you will be able to train them to get them ready to run like the wind. Once you get on the racetrack, you’ll take control of the jockey with realistic, lifelike controls. You’ll feel just like you are actually on the horse.
Outside of managing your stable, you can also explore the ranch at your leisure. You can discover new locations in the game’s Story Mode, or compete online in multiplayer modes.
“We’re very excited to reveal the next evolution of our Rival Stars Horse Racing franchise. It will allow players to get closer to their horses than ever before and feel the thrill of riding, racing, and bonding with them,” said Mario Wynands, CEO of PikPok.
Rival Stars Horse Racing: VR Edition is now available to wishlist on both the Meta Quest Store and Steam. The game is scheduled to release in Q2 2025 on both Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest 3, as well as Steam VR.
