EA Sports is set to fully unveil NHL 22 on August 19, but that hasn’t stopped news from leaking out, including the game’s release date.
This year’s installment of the series is set to release on Friday, October 15. Those who pre-order the (unofficial) “X-Factor Edition” of the game will get access three days early on October 12. For those wondering, pre-orders are expected to be open shortly after the release of the two-minute-long trailer on Thursday.
NHL 22 will mark the game’s debut not only on the PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Xbox Series X|S consoles, but on the Frostbite Engine as well. The move comes after seven years on the Ignite Engine on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
What Else Is Coming With NHL 22?
Though we know the game will launch in October for the second year in a row and move to Frostbite, there’s still a lot of unknowns.
Will the game be on Frostbite on Xbox One and PS4? What about cross-gen play, especially for those in modes like the EASHL (EA Sports Hockey League)? Will modes like GM Connected finally return?
EA Sports will be answering most of these with the reveal trail on Thursday. And don’t forget, a beta for the game is coming up at the end of August.
