Over 124 Million Matches Played and 164 Million Goals Scored In FIFA 17’s The Journey So Far

FIFA 17 - The Journey

EA Sports has announced that FIFA 17’s The Journey was played at a rate of more than 178,000 matches per hour from September 24 to October 24 on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. This adds up to 124 million matches played during the first month of FIFA 17’s release. During this period, The Journey’s protagonist, Alex Hunter, scored over 164 million goals.

In The Journey, players get to choose which Premier League team Alex gets to start his career with, and in this respect, Manchester United was the clear favorite, with 18% of players picking the Red Devils. Liverpool FC, Leicester City Football Club, Arsenal, and West Ham United were the other top choices.

Players have won more than 560,000 Premier League titles with Alex and more than 1 million FA Cup titles.

Adetomiwa Edun, the actor who plays Alex Hunter had this to say about The Journey’s success: “It’s absolutely incredible to see the number of people engaging with The Journey. The social media response has been phenomenal – to have fans shouting out for Alex during big football matches has been surreal – I can’t wait to see where Alex’s journey leads next.”

The Journey engaged 20% more players in FIFA 17 during the game’s first week than FIFA 16 did during the same timeframe last year.

Other game modes are also seeing high engagement. More than 366 million matches have been played in FIFA 17 Ultimate Team across all platforms.
