F1 24 Recieves a Massive Overhaul

Sports Gamers Online was invited to attend a digital preview for F1 24. During the event, the game’s developer, Codemasters, discussed some new additions coming to this year’s game, including the overhauled Career Mode.

F1 24 Career Mode: Be YOU or Hamilton

In previous titles, players could create a driver and compete in F1 or F2. However, in F1 24, players can play as current drivers or icons. Playing as an existing driver will have players chasing down different accolades and objectives.

For example, if you are playing as Lewis Hamilton, you will be hunting down that 8th Grand Prix win. But if you are playing as McClaren’s Lando Norris, one of your objectives is finally taking first place.

As I stated before, you can also play as icons of the grid, such as James Hunt and Nigel Mansell.

For players who want to play as a new driver entering the world of F1, you can still create a driver, join an academy, and work your way to Formula 1.

New contract system

F1 24 Career Mode will have a new contract system. This year, drivers will start their contract negotiations early in the year and set goals for their team. However, if they are not meeting those objectives at the beginning of the season, they can renegotiate with their team.

As you play through the F1 seasons, you will have the opportunity to hold ‘secret meetings’ with other teams. Yes, you can do what Lewis Hamilton has done to Mercedes and strike a deal to move to another team.

However, if word gets out about your meeting, it will affect your standing with the paddock and lead to future confrontation.

Overall, Codemasters has done a lot of work to improve the career mode experience for F1 24. The game races out on May 31 and will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
