Today, the latest season update for F1 2020 comes to all platforms, for free. Codemaster and Deep Silver announced that Formula 2 will join F1 2020. The free season update will let racers play as all the drivers and cars from the 11 teams that competed in the 2020 FIA Formula 2 Championship.
The F2 2020 season update matches its real-world counterpart. Players will race over 12 weekends, each weekend featuring F2’s two races: Saturday’s Feature Race and Sunday’s Sprint Race. F1 Franchiser Game Director Lee Mather attributes this update to F2’s popularity with the community.
“F2 has proved very popular with our players since its debut in F1 2019, and we know they will enjoy rewriting recent history with the free F1 2020 update. The update enables players to compete with Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin before they join forces as part of Haas F1 Team for 2021.”
Of course, this quote hinges on whether or not Nikita Mazepin will be racing for Haas F1 Team after all.
Today’s free season update adds the new F2 mode to F1 2020’s already robust set of content. F1 2020 really focuses on letting players customize their gameplay experience to a T, with new accessibility options as well. You can create a driver, choose a sponsor, and build a championship team with MyTeam mode. Racers can even compete with others, both online and offline with the returning split-screen mode. Today’s update helps round out the overall F1 2020 experience.
The F2 2020 season update for F1 2020 is available now on all platforms, free of charge. If you’re unsure whether or not this year’s F1 game is for you, check out our review here (spoilers: we really like it). If you need more than words, you can try F1 2020 for free on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
