The Game Award 2022 was dominated mainly by God of War Ragnarok and Elden Ring accolades, with many new games being shown. However, while there was little action for sports games at this year’s show, we saw PlayStation’s Gran Turismo 7 win the best Sports/ Racing game.
Gran Turismo 7 Wins The Best Sports/ Racing Award
Gran Turismo 7 came out earlier this year with good reviews. PlayStation’s racer took home the Best sports/racing game over FIFA 23, NBA 2K23, and Olli Olli World. Racing games tend to win these awards more than simulation titles like NBA 2K or FIFA.
Last year, Forza Horizon 5 won many awards at The Game Awards, deservedly so. Like Grand Turismo 7, Forza Horizon 5 pushes simulation driving games to new heights. The PlayStation 5 version of the latest Gran Turismo title takes full advantage of ray-tracing and haptic feedback. In addition, the game supports 4K resolution and runs at 60 frames per second.
