After months of rumors and speculation, the Nintendo Switch 2 was finally revealed. During the 2-minute trailer, Nintendo showed off its latest home console, sporting a bigger screen, new joy-cons, and a sneak peek at Mario Kart 9.
Nintendo Switch 2
Let’s start with Nintendo’s newest home console. Even though the Switch 2 has been revealed, we still don’t know loads about it. So far, the trailer showed off a bigger screen, new design, joy-cons, and dock. The joy-cons will now snap into place instead of being slotted into the console like the original Switch.
In addition, the console will be backward compatible with Switch games and have 2 USB ports. While loads of details are still unknown about the Switch 2, Nintendo will host a Direct dedicated to the home console on April 2nd.
Mario Kart 9
During the reveal trailer, Nintendo showed a sneak peek at its long-awaited sequel to Mario Kart 8. All fingers point to Mario Kart 9 being a launch title for the Switch 2 and surely we will know more about it on April 2nd.
However, some details are being pointed out through the game’s short cameo. Judging by the trailer, Mario Kart 9 will have 24 players per race. This is a massive jump from Mario Kart 8‘s 12 players per race. Overall, the game looks beautiful and some of the physics in just the short cameo looks next-generation level.
The Nintendo Switch 2 will be released in 2025 and a Direct dedicated to the console will be held on April 2nd. For more on the console and Nintendo’s newest kart racer, stay tuned to Sports Gamers Online.
