NASCAR 21: Ignition Dev Diary 2: The Track Showcase

NASCAR 21 Unreal Engine

In episode one of the NASCAR 21: Ignition Dev Diary, Motorsport Games showcased the process of building cars from the ground up. In episode two, the focus is the track. The tracks are rebuilt to deliver the most authentic experience to date.

NASCAR 21 Dev Diary #2: The Tracks

NASCAR 21: Ignition features the complete tracks from the 2021 NASCAR cup series schedule. Each track was built to be up-to-date and realistic to its real-life counterparts. Two particular track additions to the 2021 schedule were focused on: Circuit of the Americas and Nashville.

The team worked with a professional track scanning company to gather data. This served as the basis for building authentic tracks. The data showed every scuff and scratch in the asphalt, every rivet in the barrier, and even paint along the walls and tracks. The information fuels the first step in the process. The scan allowed the team to build the physics meshes so cars react to every bump on the track.

From there, the production is more traditional. The team carefully created surfaces, walls, infield, outfield, props, and crowds to make it all feel real. From the garage to victory lane, NASCAR 21: Ignition brings your favorite tracks to life.

Motorsport Games’ art team took reference photos for billboards, sponsor decals, and building placements. The team noted some difficulty during track development. Some tracks are larger and more complex than others, so getting every detail is a bit difficult. However, the team has done stellar work.

In the last episode of the dev diary, fans will get a deep dive into the people who make NASCAR 21: Ignition what it is.

NASCAR 21: Ignition Champions edition will release on October 26, 2021, and the standard releases on October 28, 2021. Let us know down below if you think Motorsport Games will deliver a great game.
