Recently Returned Superstar Planned for WWE 2K22 DLC

WWE 2K22 launches on March 11, and while 2K has yet to reveal the entire roster to everyone, there are new details about a superstar scheduled to be a part of the game’s post-launch DLC. Multiple sources close to the game’s development have told SGO that 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble winner Ronda Rousey is planned to be part of one of the last WWE 2K22 DLC roster packs.

Rousey was a pre-order bonus for WWE 2K19 back in 2018 while being a part of the game’s main launch roster on WWE 2K20. The decision was made to not include her on the main WWE 2K22 roster because she hadn’t been seen in the company since WrestleMania 35 in New York City.

“2K wanted her on the main roster, but there wasn’t any certainty of her return,” one source said.

With her returning to WWE in January, sources said that WWE went to 2K directly to request her inclusion in the game. Though adding her back into the game does require additional resources and scanning, it wasn’t something too big for the studio to handle.

With how late in the development the team was — late January — by the time the request was made, the decision was to make her paid DLC for players. SGO did reach out for comment from 2K on her inclusion, but, to no one’s surprise, no response was ever received.

Another Superstar Was Requested

One interesting tidbit that was learned is that WWE also requested another superstar be added to the game’s roster. As of writing, 2K has a belief that they won’t be creating that wrestler for inclusion in the game as DLC, though things could ultimately change. When asked about who the wrestler could be, both sources SGO spoke to refused to give that information away. One even decided to “play dumb” with responses of “What?” in a variety of languages.

Who the superstar could be is an interesting thing to wonder, but, for now, it’ll remain a mystery.

If Rousey ends up DLC, I hope that means Johnny Knoxville has a chance of being part of the same DLC Pack as Machine Gun Kelly.
