Rugby 22 Gameplay Reveal, Release Date Announced

Last summer, we learned that Rugby 22 was coming as early as January 2022. Just last month, we learned that Rugby 22 will be released on January 27, 2022. Today, developers Nacon and Eko Software finally dropped Rugby 22 gameplay. The game will release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.

The Rugby games have seen a growth in popularity over the years. Rugby 22 will need an improved feature set to match. This year’s installment will add even more features, like new optimized in-game controls and changes to the game’s difficulty settings. Today’s trailer shows all of the new features coming to Rugby 22, but you can check out what’s new below.

Note: The information below comes from Nacon and Eko Software.

What’s New in Rugby 22

  • Optimized in-game controls

Redesigned for an even more responsive and intuitive game experience, Rugby 22 integrates a new control system to play touches, rucks, and mauls like a real oval ball professional!

  • An improvement of the AI behavior

For an even more enjoyable simulation experience, the AI has been optimized by the Eko Software teams to adapt even better to the tactical choices of the players. Your players will position themselves and react in a more realistic way, while your opponents will make better choices.

  •  A new, more complex difficulty mode

Finally, a new difficulty mode has been added to offer players a more solid opposition and a more difficult challenge once they have mastered the game.

Rugby 22 will have existing features like career mode, online play, training drills, and an authentic Rugby experience. While Nacon’s newest game seems promising, our review of Rugby 20 came with its fair share of criticism. However, the series has loads of potential and continues to get better with each installment.
