Skate Officially Coming to Steam

There are several sports video game series that are coming out of hiatus soon. From EA Sports College Football series to the 2K Top Spin series, this is a great time for once dormant franchises. However, there is one more that is coming back, and we just learned it is coming to a new platform.

Skate Comes to Steam

This week, a post on the official skate. X account confirmed that the next iteration in the popular skateboarding series will officially be available on Steam. It was announced years ago that the newest entry would come to PC for the first time in the series’ history. However, it had not been confirmed yet which PC storefront the game would be on. We now know that Steam will at least be one of those storefronts.

Skate was announced back in June 2020 as part of EA Play. Since then, fans have been eager to hear any and all information about the long awaited title. In a reply to a comment on that X post, the skate. account confirmed that console playtests were coming later this year. This does not confirm the game is close to launching, but it does show that development is progressing.

This isn’t the first we have heard about playtests for skate. Earlier this week, Insider Gaming reported on a six-week playtest for the game. According to this report, the playtest will begin next week and run through the middle of March. The report also says this playtest will be on PC, and players will be under NDA.

The Skate series is a classic from the 7th console generation. The first game in the series was released back in 2007 for PS3, Xbox 360, and mobile phones. More Skate games were released yearly for the next three years. This culminated in Skate 3, which is one of the most popular skateboarding games of all time.
